Septic System Soil Drainage
There
are many possible reasons for
septic system failure. The number
one cause occurs in septic drainfield
soil. Fat, oil and grease (F.O.G.)
and other organic matter can migrate
to the drainfield contaminating
the soil.
A
second type of drainfield failure
occurs often, but its cause is
not commonly recognized. Hardpan
soil conditions can be caused
by the chemical reaction of sodium
(salt) on soil containing clay.
Scientific
studies have proven the attractive
relationship between these molecules.
Either of these conditions can
cause a septic system to fail.
A combination of the two often
leads to drainfield replacement.
Before
you resort to digging up your
yard to install a costly new drainfield
